Akai APC40 Monome Hack

You’re probably familiar with the Monome. A super sleek, minimalist, DIY MID controller thats a) expensive, b) only available in limited run, thus making it c) hard to get one. With this little trick, do you really need one anymore?

The “hack” in question is actually a Max/MSP patch dubbed Monomulator. It allows you to use all the Monome apps/code to turn your APC40 into a Monome clone. Oh, and it also work’s with Korg’s padKontrol.

APC40s are around $400 and available in steady quantity. Monomes, in their samllest 64 pad size, go for around $500 and upwards of $1400. I’m not bashing Monomes by any means, but if you need a Monome but are on a budget, maybe you should look into this Monomulator thing.
