Musikmesse 09: Rane SL3 Interface

Rane introduce a new interface for their oh-so-popular Scratch Live DJ platform, the SL3.
The focal point of this thing seems to be a) portability, b) ruggedness, and c) simplicity. Considering you might have between one to, maybe, four or five DJs using this system in one night, back to back, it’s easy to see why these features are so important. At it’s core, it’s a 24-bit USB 2.0 interface that allows you to use your turntables (with timecode vinyl) or your CDJs (with timecode CDs) to control Scrath Live, a digital solution to traditional DJing. It boasts an impressive 104dB of headroom…which is more than enough for DJing.
The preamps inside this interface are the same as the ones found inside the Rane TTM 57SL. The interface also allows you to toggle between a phono and line level signal so you can mix and match turntables with CDJs. It also has some auxes, which only sweeten the deal.
The Rane SL3 is available now for $699.
